hello, i not sure if network issue or file sharing issue, try here. i have domain server 2 nics , subsequently 2 ips (on same subnet). second nic/ip has no gateway, therefore uses first nic/ip's gateway. i have created disablestrictnamechecking registry value , rebooted. have created 2 dns records: "server" resolves to 1 nics ip , "server2" resolves other nics ip (ip2 in example). what doing using dfs and have created dfs namespace called \\ domain\share , trying add second target each link; 1 target \\ server\sh1 , other target \\ server2\sh1 .  any domain pc, can open explorer , type \\server1\ , see scheduled tasks , non-hidden shares, etc fine. can access same through \\server2\ , see same items. the problem having when logged on "server", the \\server\ works expected, \\server2\ not show , pressing enter results in username/password prompt (that doesn't work proper authentication information). server, using the explicit ip address, \\ip2...

is possible hide hyper-v machine created remote-user1, remote-user2? if yes, how? by using permissions have limited actions other users machines can see them , start them, not use them. but 10 times better if not see other machines. i'm running windows server 2008 r2, on local net. hi! from know, there no known way accomplish this. suggestion use scvmms self-service portal, where can configure different user roles let users manage virtual machines. hyper-v manager server console, no focus on user roles. a little background: manage sbs network client.  there few workstations running xp , 7 , authenticated against active directory on sbs server in domain.  a few months ago, server stolen , perpetrators have yet found.  the client has new sbs server, need able reestablish trust between locally cached user accounts on workstations , server.  before rejoining workstations domain, users still able login due cached login credentials.  when rejoin computers domain, understand users lose desktop , preferences (though still on hard drive) due conflicting sids, resulting in clean-and-fresh desktop.  i edit sids of recreated users in active directory on server, understand near impossible.  these users have lot of documents , saved preferences take while re-tweak. is there possible way of keeping users' current desktop when rejoin workstations domain?  you may join new domain , use usmt tool copy profile , settings includes settings included in inte...
