we have simple server 2008r2 setup. server not on domain, workgroup. small office 25 employees. server functions file server, rdp (another issue post).   server admin. have 1 folder whole bunch of sub-folders in it....we call "shared".   "shared" company data stored , worked every day users, , therefore group called "users" has full control. "shared" shared way. here going on:  if physically go on office , log on server console , add users or change passwords or whatever, fine.   if remote-desktop server add user account or change user's password, odd reason "users" group removed people have access "shared" in shared's security tab , therefor locked out of folder.  if proceed log on , check it, find "shared" still shared...and on security tab in list of users/groups have access "administrators" there, , 1 other user there -- user messing with.  group ...

hi all, i'm facing quite courious problem server 2008 , wired 802.1x: my setup: windows server 2008 sp2 x86 802.1x authentication  set to   peap    --> "validate server certificate" unchecked    --> authentication method: "secured password (eap-mschap v2)"          --> "automatically use windows..." unchecked authentication handled cisco acs username , password everything works fine until install terminal server/licensing role @ server, without ts connect nic our 802.1x enabled switch , window show's asking me network credentials, enter , server get's connected special vlan. after ts installation window doesn't show , have no chance enter credentials (event log says "wired 802.1x authentication failed...). use set lab server placed seperate vlan, server 2003 setup running fine terminal server installed now... hope help, thx in advance cheer...

hello, i have gone through steps of creating trust between these 2 domains. issue have left not have option when trying create trust of forest trust windows 2003 domain windows 2008 r2 domain. on windows 2008 domain have option create forest trust windows 2003 domain. have done exact same things on both domains should working. on windows 2003 domain have added secondary dns of windows 2008 r2 domain , see fine in windows 20003 domain dns console. any ideas on else can look. i figured out problem was i ran dcdiag , gave me error resolving dc name srv records, said did not have ip address guid. looked in dns manager on 2003 server , saw server there no entries under _msdc created them , ran nslooup , appeared in list of servers. waited 1 hour , see forest option.   thanks help Windows Server  >  ...

i consistently getting errors w32time service on pdc. have gone through registry in detail make sure set correctly. we have server running windows server 2012 vpn connections rras. after initial difficulties pki certificate acceptable ikev2, got working. it worked week, , now, after restarted services unrelated issue, seems server can no longer find correct certificate though in certificate manager. all clients (built-in windows vpn client) give error 13806: ike failed find valid machine certificate. contact network security administrator installing valid certificate in appropriate certificate store. the client logs enormous , hard make sense of, don't seem error message doesn't. the certificate worked before in machine store on rras server. checked again against detailed survey of works , doesn't work , appears fine. certificate's cn set internal fqdn, subject alternative name: dns name set dns name vpn clients using. other things i've considered: the certificate doesn't expire until 2015. both client , server trust ad ca's root certificate using pptp...

operating system: microsoft windows server 2003 r2 - enterprise edition build: 3790 service pack 2 problem: lotus notes v8.5 calendar entries show wrong time in remote clients. show time server located in different time zone. symptoms: citrix server lotus notes published resides in winnipeg, mb (central time zone). when user located in time zone connects thin client our domain , uses citrix access lotus notes, can create entries in calendar intended times (e.g. user in pacific time zone creates meeting entry scheduled today @ 3:00pm), after saved, if same user, or other user time zone checks entry, time modified based on central time zone (in previous example, user see meeting not set 3:00pm, 1:00pm). happens because when user saves entry, time of entry saved central, not local time zone. note: have brought issue ibm's attention first, have responded known issue between microsoft , java application used lotus notes time zone redirection. ibm response: ...
