Save As PDF > "not a valid short file name..."

we're having strange error (i hate bug) in word 2010 when trying create pdfs new templates

when selecting file > save as , choosing pdf we error "'long file name.pdf' not valid short file name.

obviously true, not expected. 
(incidentally 8 char name works)

if take same file , select file > save & send > create pdf document > create pdf we appears same save dialog.  this time "long file name.pdf" accepted valid file name , cushty...

i thought 2 options above 2 ways of getting same dialog why 1 work , other not...

can save same file choose other file format?
can save file when type filename manually?

create new blank document, , save pdf, type filename manually.

if problem not appears, may check template , filename. helpful if can provide filename or screen short.

please test in other office applications, such excel, if excel cannot save either, please repair office 2010.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...

How do a find data in one file, search for it in another file and if not found, write a custom message to another file
