hello, i've been trying fine tune switches around wds multicast sessions. multicast sessions make imaging computer lab faster.  have default vlan igmp enabled on vlan 1 on each switch. changed default mulitcast ip range in wds 239.0.0.1 - 239.0.0.254  239.0.1.1 - 239.0.1.254 because found default range ignored igmp on procurve switches. when start wds multicast session, same ports on same switches go @ least 70% utilization reported procurve management software. doesn't seem matter clients on network. i'm not flat out flooding entire network anymore, i'm still concerned utilization causes on switches shouldn't involved in multicast session. is normal wds give switches workout when configured? do need igmp querier on vlan? have enabled functionality on switch wds server connected to. i know isn't procurve forum i'm still curious if else has had these issues. thanks! i did more digging on procurve. switches igmp enabled have igmp querier fu...

i have bee running test , conclusion this: there large performance hit non! windows 8 clients transferring files in , out of shares on windows 2012 essentials server. *** windows 8 clients can saturate 1gbit ethernet , transfers sustained 112mb/s in either direction , shared folder on server. *** windows 7 client(s) can trasfer between 30-60mb/s onto same windows server 2012 . *** same windows 7 clients able transfer @ full gigabit ethernet saturation speeds when talking windows 2008 based server i.e.whs2011.   test concluded on same physical network, same pysical hardware.        *** update: performance normal win7 clients after disabling smb signing on server. the question still remains why windows 8 client not impacted as win 7 client default setting of dc. hi, i have following question regarding network configuration in hyper-v: the server has 2 dualport 1gbit/s nic's sr-iov functionality. both ports of each nic connected 2 different switches. these 2 switches connects second datacenter (2 gbit/s interlink) , server same config located. from these 2 servers want build cluster vm. when follow best practises hyper-v, should supply different networks: management, lan, cluster, live migration (storage san based). could use each of ports in dualport nic's different networks , have sr-iov support - correct? now i'd more improved (fail-safe) and want use nic teaming (one team nic port connected each switch) - i have learned is if using nic teaming sr-iov not possible, correct? so best configuration in case when sr-iov concern? (unfortunately network infrastructure bandwith limitations is predefined , not easy change) any ideas , "real world solutions" appreciated :-...

on our company have * 2 (physical) machines running win server 2003 r2 x64 * 3 virtual machines running win server 2003 r2 x64 * 10+ clients (desktops & notebooks) running windows xp * 10+ desktops running windows xp x64 all machines belong same domain. everything ran fine, until added windows 7 x64 notebook (toshiba tecra  a11) domain.   all existing machines still have no problem whatsoever, new windows 7 x64 notebook slow when connecting 1 particular server (domain member server, not dc), either via \\server\share, via mapped drive (t:\ = \\server\share), or \\192.168.5.196\share typically, takes 10 seconds before contents of share appear, 10 more when opening directory, 10 more next level etc... said notebook not have problem when connecting of other servers or clients. make no difference whether laptop uses lan (intel) or wlan (atheros)   we have 2 more identical notebooks. did few more tests: notebook2 => installed dual boo...
