WDS Multicast and IGMP on HP ProCurve Switches

hello,

i've been trying fine tune switches around wds multicast sessions. multicast sessions make imaging computer lab faster.  have default vlan igmp enabled on vlan 1 on each switch. changed default mulitcast ip range in wds 239.0.0.1 - 239.0.0.254  239.0.1.1 - 239.0.1.254 because found default range ignored igmp on procurve switches.

when start wds multicast session, same ports on same switches go @ least 70% utilization reported procurve management software. doesn't seem matter clients on network. i'm not flat out flooding entire network anymore, i'm still concerned utilization causes on switches shouldn't involved in multicast session.

is normal wds give switches workout when configured?

do need igmp querier on vlan? have enabled functionality on switch wds server connected to.

i know isn't procurve forum i'm still curious if else has had these issues.

i did more digging on procurve. switches igmp enabled have igmp querier functionality enabled default. if multicast router in place, switch detect , turn querier off. if there multiple switches querier enabled have election decide switch querier. in case switch in far end of our network elected querier, multicast stream sent switch , back.

the solution disable igmp querier on switches except want querier.

i hope helps in future.

How do a find data in one file, search for it in another file and if not found, write a custom message to another file
