Non Windows 8 clients suffer massive performance hit when transferring in and out of shared folders
i have bee running test , conclusion this:
there large performance hit non! windows 8 clients transferring files in , out of shares on windows 2012 essentials server.
*** windows 8 clients can saturate 1gbit ethernet , transfers sustained 112mb/s in either direction , shared folder on server.
*** windows 7 client(s) can trasfer between 30-60mb/s onto same windows server 2012.
*** same windows 7 clients able transfer @ full gigabit ethernet saturation speeds
when talking windows 2008 based server i.e.whs2011.
test concluded on same physical network, same pysical hardware.
*** update: performance normal win7 clients after disabling smb signing on server.
the question still remains why windows 8 client not impacted as win 7 client default setting of dc.
