Usable Ram

os: windows server 2008 r2 datacenter sp1
  latest patches installed of 4/12/2011
hw: hp dl980 g7
  ram: 2tb (128 x 16gb)
  cpu: 8 - 8 core xeon x7560 2.27ghz
  storage: (proof of concept server, don't worry raid level)
     c_drive: 2 - 146gb 15k sas (raid 0)
     d_drive: dvd-rom
     e_drive: 5 - 300gb 10k sas (raid 0)
     r_drive: 512gb ram drive (hence need ram)
  bios: hp p66 (7/27/2010)

problem: system shows 2tb (0.98tb usable).  nothing i've found tells me how enable other tb of ram, suggestions?

windows server 2008 r2 datacenter can use 2 tb ram totally, if hardware can support.

 

based on current situation, please try install hotfix following microsoft kb article provides:

 

windows server 2008 r2 cannot installed or started on computer has 1 tb or more of ram

if not work, please update bios , chipset drivers.

 

if issue persists, please contact vendor, hp check if hardware devices can support 2 tb ram.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...

How do a find data in one file, search for it in another file and if not found, write a custom message to another file
