hi,
when dns name of domain changes, references group policy objects (gpos) within renamed domain through group policy links (the gplink attribute) on sites, domains, , organizational units rendered invalid because based on old domain name. furthermore, optional attribute gpcfilesyspath on gpo holds uniform naming convention (unc) path group policy templates folder located in sysvol volume of renamed domain rendered invalid because path uses old domain dns name. correct severed group policy links , invalid unc paths in gpos within renamed domain, can use group policy fix-up tool gpfixup.exe refresh group policy links , unc paths in gpos based on new domain name.
fix group policy objects , links
