does got hint potential cause of add cluster nodes failed following report details , if there way rectify without re-create cluster?  thanks!

the server '003' not added cluster.
error occurred while adding node 'hypersql003.ultimateconnect.localnet' cluster 'cluster01'.
operation returned because timeout period expired

adding 003 cluster.
validating cluster state on node hypersql003.
getting current node membership of cluster cluster01.
adding node 003 cluster configuration data.
validating installation of network ft driver on node 003.
validating installation of cluster disk driver on node 003.
configuring cluster service on node 003.
waiting notification cluster service on node 003 has started.
waiting notification node 003 functional member of cluster.
unable cleanup.
the server '003' not added cluster.

this issue can occur because of multiple reasons seen in past and online forums including microsoft technet forums.

user can try following in serial order:

  1. uninstall antivirus test.

  2. uninstall hp ncu software and make sure there no nic teaming [if using hp ncu].

  3. generate [cluster.exe . log /gen ] after issue along failover clustering operational event logs and system event logs after reproducing issue when make changes above and see clues.

  4. many times reinstalling host has resolved ultimately.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...
