WSUS disaster recovery

a standalone upgrade of wsus sp1 sp2 (remote sql hence no option use wsus update) failed. left no option carry out fresh install , recreate new database. time opted local database on sql server (allow future upgrade through wsus). idea being once had application , running restore old copy of database. everytime this, wsus admin console not connect app. have made sure have relevant sql logins , permissions restored db. os 2008 sp2 x86. new install works fine , clients reporting , content sync working fine too. there have been updates have declined found cause issues in our environment. great pain reidentify these before apporve other updates ability use restored db immensely.

alternatively ability query old sus db list of declined updates help.

so know of way restore backup copy of sus db new sus install db servers not same?

or

does have sql syntax list of updates have been declined not expired or superceded?

i have seen post may indicate not doable.

please note not want use old db server use new one, otherwise have used instructions in appendix b of deployment guide.

not true.

if original database still on remote sql server, reinstall wsus 3 sp1 on front end server , reconnect back-end sql database. read release notes, , upgrade front-end server sp2.
so know of way restore backup copy of sus db new sus install db servers not same?
cannot restore sp1 database sp2 installation. databases not compatible.
please note not want use old db server
if wish recover access original database, way can achieve objective.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...

How do a find data in one file, search for it in another file and if not found, write a custom message to another file
