WSIM (WDS) boot.wim (win 2008 i386) - select a image - error: Parameter Count Mismatch

using wsim (wds) installed on windows 2003 r2 i386 server. 


i trying import  boot.wim. (windows 2008 i386). have on local drive.

i :

"windows system image manager execution failed.  details: parameter count mismatch".

i appreciate can .

are trying create catalog file boot.wim file?

 

if so, please understand can create catalog file install image. cannot generate catalog file boot image.

 

please use install image create catalog file.

 

to create catalog file:

 

1.   open windows sim.

2.   open windows image.

3.   on tools menu, select ‘create catalog’.

4.   open windows image dialog box opens.

5.   select windows image (.wim) file, , click ‘open’.

6.   if choose windows image file has more 1 windows image, ‘select image dialog’ box opens.

7.   select image type (for example, windows server 2008 datacenter), , click ‘ok’.

 

the catalog file created in same directory .wim file selected.

 

if issue still occurs, i confirm if using latest version of waik –waik 1.1. if not, suggest installing waik 1.1 following site:

 

automated installation kit (aik) windows vista sp1 , windows server 2008

in addition, because of changes in servicing stack in windows vista service pack 1 (sp1) , windows server 2008, windows system image manager (windows sim) cannot create catalog files windows images of different architecture types. following list describes image manager architecture types , catalogs can created each one.

 

x86 image manager:

can create catalogs x86, x64, , itanium-based windows images.

 

x64 image manager:

can create catalogs x64 windows images.

 

itanium-based image manager:

can create catalogs itanium-based windows images.

 

therefore, recommend installing x86 windows sim can create catalogs types of windows images.
