i need to change my boot startup back to my C drive ...how do I change my desktop icons to load from my C drive ?

my desktop icons being pulled removable hard drive now  ..after backed user/(username) directory file on original boot drive c:  ..... windows 7 started take desktop icons k:passport (removable backup drive).

how boot (startup) script change drive name startup goes to desktop icons etc.

the original was  c:\users\jay\desktop

now pulls desktop icons from:  k:\users\jay\desktop

can me on ..  nothing have tried has stayed way changed it.   thank you

i'm little unclear question. user profile not moved place automatically , know whether there is another operation system (windows 7) on removable disk? if so, correct current issue "the computer starts boot drive k (the system on removable disk) instead of system on drive c"?

if so, need change boot sequence back. please have typing msconfig in start --- search box , open it, check if there 2 lines in boot tab. if so, change default os 1 on drive c, change timeout 30 seconds (incase failed boot drive c , fail reboot drive k again), click ok and reboot see result.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...
