Managing XP and Windows 7 GPO

hi,

i’ve been searching net answers more confused now.

i have windows 2003 domain windows 2003 dcs. have gpos xp , we’re deploying windows 7 , need configure gpos xp , windows 7.

we have pocilydefinitions store (sysvol) contains admx template office 2010 (so far). want add admx templates windows 7 (and windows 2008 r2). know manage these new gpos, need use gpmc on windows 2008 r2 server  or windows 7 machine.

xp being phased out still need manage xp gpos. question can still manage xp gpos using new admx templates , using gpmc on w2k8 or win7. should note not use  policy preferences (because need add gpo client side extension on xp boxes...we not because xp being phased out).

hi,

have looked using wmi filters seperate gpo's? give flexibility use new gpo options without having modify xp stations support preferences.

a example filtering gpos http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754488(ws.10).aspx

admx files apply xp stations. need vista/7 manage them.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...

How do a find data in one file, search for it in another file and if not found, write a custom message to another file
