Active Directory snapshots powershell restore object
hello all
running ad 2008 r2 dc's. followed below article , able mount , export snapshot , @ data in snapshot, cant life of figure out how use powershell actuall restore object snapshot. author in article briefly touches on doesnt go detail. can done? nice if didnt have reboot the dc dsrm restore object, agsain everthing have read suggest can done, have yet find way it

snapshots don't constitute substitute backups.
in short, have 2 "traditional" options "recover" ad deleted objects
1) restore them authoritiatively backup. in case, snapshots allow identify recent backup still contains these objects
2) reanimate them (from deleted objects container). in case, snaphots allow restore attributes automatically stripped deleted objects.
the first of these methods, requires restart in dsrm.
if have windows server 2008 r2 based ad, should consider turning on recycyle bin - provides far superior method of restoring deleted objects
