Just P2V-ed our servers and we are now having weird connectivity issues. Windows XP Pro random offline icon in sysem tray.

i not sure post because there many variables.

we have been running windows server 2k3 small business years. had two servers set up, both roles dc. 1 of them our exchange server, while other fileshare server.

a couple of weeks ago virtualized each of these onto new server running server 2008 r2 using hyper v our virtualization software. physical 2008 r2 has 2 roles, file sharing , need @ see other not domain controller.

the issue having random users intermittently go offline mode , have resync server reconnect. thing syncing documents server, not stored locally on machines. has been major headache, stations slow crawl. lose access our data base, , cannnot access folders on server. use call recording set sends recorded calls our server, when offline mode occures these calls lost. these calls important, use them training , developement.

all users having issue on windows xp pro sp3. there 4 other computers running windows 7 dont seem influenced problem.

this problem has started since virtualized our server.

i know there not enough information here make assumptions please tell me need provide , information you.

the network connection lost on hyper-v virtual machine

symptoms:

  • you install hyper-v role on computer running windows server 2008 r2.
  • the computer hosts vm running windows server 2003 or windows xp. 
  • the vm running under heavy load.

in scenario, network connection virtual machine lost. additionally, must repair network adapter or reset vm recover issue.
