WSUS Clients Reporting Only
hi everyone,
i used have wsus 3.0 deployed , had clients reporting in. had problems rebuilt system. it's been few months since patches managed.
as develop patch management process, want clients "check in" , give me idea of general population of machines at.
i not want deploy patches them @ moment want controlled release of patches.
can advise me of group policy objects should configure check in?
i considered setting intranet update location not automatic updates schedule don't want users being offered patches either (some administrators of machines due legacy applications.)
cheers.

can advise me of group policy objects should configure check in?unless approve update installation -- check in clients ever do.
so, simple answer is: don't approve updates.
the group policy has nothing @ differences between check-in , update installation.
at minimum, have wsus functionality, must set set intranet microsoft update services location policy in order define location of wsus server , switch machine using au wsus. other policies covered default values.
you may find section update , configure automatic updates client of wsus deployment guide of benefit.
