Server 2008 Task Scheduler MMC Hanging?

hi,

having strange issue 1 of our 2008 servers. im trying setup scheduled task on server. when first opening task scheduler, task status , active tasks "reading data, please wait" , nothing every displays. looks if mmc console hanging or stuck. way out of end application task manager.

the task scheduler service started restart or stop option grayed out. hoping restart service. logged on using administrator credentials. if possible, id going without having reboot server.

something else noticed if browse c:\windows\system32\tasks see thousands , thousands of files 2kb in size names at1, at2, at3, etc. these files , can deleted?

for still having issue have found solution problem. issue @ hand impacts both windows 7 , windows 2008 systems. resolve issue delete @ jobs located in c:\windows\system32\tasks. these jobs related failed scripts , or windows update process created partial tasks never registered windows. jobs corrupt. resolve issue delete jobs c:\windows\system32\tasks. next open task scheduler. if task scheduler lists @ jobs in task scheduler library window delete them view. problem solved!! hope helps someone.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...

How do a find data in one file, search for it in another file and if not found, write a custom message to another file
