Server 2008 R2 and Brother MFC 8500


hey guys,

i have formatted , re-installed server 08 r2(exchange server) due domain change.

after re-installation of windows, drivers automatically installed windows except scanner driver. printer , fax driver automatically installed.

when go device manager, there column of other devices, in unknown device listed.

 

so here things have tried:

 

1. tried drivers brother's website , tried manually install them via device manager won't accept it

2. downloaded possible drivers specific printer/scanner(brother mfc 8500) , pointed device manager it, wouldn't list drivers. device manager gives me error along lines of there no drivers found

3. plugged machine local windows 7 machine, installed 3 drivers, printer, fax, scanner flawlessly. used "driver max" backup drivers , took server 08 r2, , once pointed device manager drivers backed windows 7, recognized device right away, refuses install driver.

 

here error getting now: " error occurred during installation of device:

the driver installation file device missing necessary entry. may because inf written windows 95 or later. contact hardware vendor."

 

the unknown device error in device manager properties of device "the drivers device not installed. (code 28).

 

can please me out? maybe can delete hardware profile registry , try scratch?

thanks post.

this happens when device doesn't provide product id string during enumeration , system not able find matching inf device install driver. in case, device marked with failure code 28 in device manager.

please check if issue occur in clean boot mode.

let's disable startup items , third party services when booting. method determine if issue caused loading program or service. please perform following steps:
1. click "start", go "run", , type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in open box start system configuration utility.
2. click "services" tab, check "hide microsoft services" box , click "disable all" (if not gray).
3. click "startup" tab, click "disable all" , click "ok".
4. click "ok" restart computer selective startup environment.
5. when "system configuration utility" window appears, please check "don't show message or launch system configuration utility when windows starts" box , click ok.
6. check whether or not issue still appears in environment.

note: temporarily disabling startup group prevents startup programs loading @ startup. shouldn't affect system or other programs. may still manually run these programs lat

does work?

if problem continues, need collect mps report further research.

2. double-click run it, if requirement not met, please follow wizard download , install them. after that, click next, when "select diagnostics want run" page appears, select "general", click next.

3. after collecting log files, choose "save results", choose folder save <computername>mpsreports.cab file.
