Fax and Scan on Server 2008 Terminal Server
summary: fax , scan not appear in start menu on terminal server desktop experience installed. ideas why?
i running windows server 2008 enterprise as terminal server dozen users. enable them use fax server capability of our windows sbs 2003 server. can tell, can access fax server using the fax and scan software on server 2008. all of the documentation i've read says when enable "windows desktop experience" feature on server 2008, fax , scan software should appear in start menu. it's not there. have un-installed , re-installed desktop experience, still no fax , scan. can see in documentation, don't need install fax server role software, desktop experience feature.
is possible fax , scan and/or other features of desktop experience disabled when terminal services enabled? there else i'm missing?

according description, suspect may misunderstand “desktop experience” , “windows fax , scan”.
based on research, if want use fax , scan services on windows server 2008, you should install fax server role server manager first.(for instructions, see install fax server role. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771198.aspx)
after installing fax server role, windows fax , scan item appear in start menu(start\all programs\windows fax , scan).
the desktop experience includes of applications , features provided in windows vista. users using computers running windows vista business, windows vista enterprise, windows vista ultimate, , windows server 2008 can send fax using windows fax , scan feature—either using fax device attached locally or fax server. access feature on windows server 2008, must install desktop experience, available server manager.
you may refer following steps install desktop experience:
1. open server manager: click start, point administrative tools, , click server manager.
2. in features summary section, click add features.
3. select desktop experience check box, , click next. , click install
