multimon - need to change remote desktop session host configuration resolution setting

i running windows 7 ultimate vm on windows 2008 r2. not able run win 7 vm in remote desktop session settings have.

i want use monitors in client session, , have enabled setting allow remote desktop use monitors.

one of monitors has native resolution of 2560x1600 rotated portrait, giving resolution of 1600x2560. problem default maximum resolution per monitor 4096x2048.

i tried make appropriate change in local group policy editor in windows 7: computer configuration -> administrative templates -> windows components -> remote desktop services ->  remote desktop session host -> remote session environment  -> limit maximum display resolution.

when attempt change height 2560, reverts 2048. in pane, 1 of paragraphs reads: if disable or not configure policy setting, maximum resolution can used each monitor display remote desktop services session determined values specified on display settings tab in remote desktop session host configuration tool.

i have spent large amount of time far, stuck now. cannot find tool. there other way specify maximum, e.g. in registry setting? or, there solution?

have been asked if need portrait orientation. using orientation improves productivity because have short-term memory problems. invested in monitor run in portrait in regard, must use remote desktop. appreciated.

sincerely,

jan
