Moving computers and profiles from a server managed by the landlord to a new Server in a new building (new domain)
i've searched , haven't found answer question.
i've set a windows essential server 2012 non-profit move week. they own computers, existing server managed landlord (bigger company). no problems except outlook/exchange , whatever desktop data , preferences on each computer. of data on server, there isn't data. and, in case aren't familiar 2012 essentials, no exchange server.
doing testing, it looks because of changing domains, creating new users on each computer. see there migration ability if trusted domain can set temporarily, isn't going happen guy @ existing site. i'll hard drive data server.
so of on each of desktops and outlook gets lost except programs. tried using windows easy transfer save stuff, doesn't restore pretty @ all, since user totally different. what i'm doing tell user save local files existing server(so they'll backed up), export outlook .pst files, , export bookmarks in favorite browser.
we'll transfer email our offsite domain hosting site right now, may go exchange online calendar functionality. no time check out exchange online right now, so....
am missing or making things harder need be?
probably both. <g>. free profile migration tool can found @ forensit.com. another, not free migrationwiz.com. can if copy our users important stuff profile before disjoining domain. also, in every such experience have had, can move users stuff old profile new if logon computer new domain admin, should test first. important stuff desktop, favorites, documents , .pst files. never leave .pst file ol puts it, rather create folder on root of data drive on local system , move there.
