Windows Time Sync Issues: The computer did not resync because no time data was available.
hi all,
i'm trying configure our win2008 domain controller sync against external time server , i'm getting following error when resync
c:\windows\system32>w32tm /resync /rediscover
sending resync command local computer
computer did not resync because no time data available.
following error appear in event viewer:
time provider ntpclient: no valid response has been received manually configured peer time.windows.com,0x1 after 8 attempts contact it. peer discarded time source , ntpclient attempt discover new peer dns name. error was: peer unreachable.
i've followed kb816042 "configuring windows time service use external time source" (including running fix) , can confirm registry settings correct.
also, group policy settings 'windows time service' set 'not configured' (as per kb929276).
there no connectivity issues "w32tm /stripchart /computer:time.windows.com /dataonly" gives me valid output. i've tried other, geographically closer, time servers same result.
unregistering/re-registering/re-configuring w32tm service gave same result.
i've reviewed of posts same error msg on here.
ideas on else can at?
thanks
please take @ thread.
time.windows.com not reliable service , not suited used timesource critical systems. can search alternative ntp server here.
