Active Directory Integrated Domain, Windows 2008 adprep on Windows 2003, DNS Error 4010
greetings,
currently running 2 windows 2003 server dc's running @ 2003 functional level , separate system running exchange 2003.
i ran adprep32 commands on pdc (holding fsmo roles) using windows 2008 r2 dvd - went - schema object version 47. added windows 2008 r2 system domain , added adds role , dcpromo - good. seemed replicating , working. noticed dns errors - 4010. seems there no _msdcs.domain.xxx in functioning windows 2003 domain , apparently problem according best practices. there old domain.xxx sub directory of _msdcs.
anyway, read few articles on topic , decided manually add _msdcs.domain.xxx dns - still getting errors. due frustration, i've removed windows 2008 r2 ad role try , rid of errors. still have _msdcs.domain.xxx , still getting 4010 errors afraid if remove break -but network dns, dhcp , ad seem working , ad replicating. idea on how dns working correctly without errors can move forward , windows 2008 r2 on network. thanks.
hi,
based on understanding, added new windows 2008 r2 dc, , saw error , have removed dc domain, right?
and according description, there dns , dhcp server configured, suggest make sure dns server configured static ip address instead of obtain form dhcp. , make sure windows 2003 dc works dns server, , 2008 r2 dc, if want make dns server, please configure ip address, , point 2003 dc , secondary or primary dns.
and also, please make windows 2008 r2 gc.
