Certificates - How can you request a Web Cert to have an Exportable Key?

hi all,

i've inherited environment lync , can see certificates on lync servers in our dmz have expired.

i did following tasks:

create certificate request within iis rsa 2048 cryptographic provider.

opened http://server/certserv , "request certificate."

submit advanced certificate request

submit certificate request using base-64-encoded cmc or pkcs #10 file...copied , pasted cert request hash

selected "web server" certificate template

did not enter additional attributes box.

downloaded new cert file extension of *.cer.

installed certificate on lync server using cert mmc.  i noticed didn't have "little key icon" in cert mmc.  i surmised meant private key installed , considered exportable.  i wrong...

in short, don't ever remember @ point during certificate generation there option make private key exportable.

thank time,

mr mister
