Problems with Win2012R2 Essentials Post-Configuration

hey guys,

i've come problem hope can with.  first post on technet.  have new server build on i've installed windows server 2012 r2 essentials.  actual essentials product, not standard or datacenter license experience role installed.

this entering existing windows server 2003 domain.  once it's setup, it'll primary dc.  it's being installed hyper-v environment.

i've attempted follow best can in our environment 8 step process on technet migrating os , having existing domain.  has done smoothly, except post-configuration of essentials experience role.  fails every time far.  else seems functioning smoothly.

the first time failed because has installed certificate authority on server.  once realized wasn't allowed, uninstalled ca, rebooted , tried again.  failed time , looking @ logs, error "the certserv service not installed".  didn't make sense me why failed prerequisite check ca installed, , failed anyway after uninstalled.

so, uninstalled ca again (after essentials setup tried re-install it) , removed certificates on machine created ca.  removed experience role, rebooted, , tried reinstall it.  not getting error certserv mentioned above, , wizard runs way 100%, fails. 

looking @ event viewer doesn't show warning or error seems relevant.  looking @ c:\programdata\microsoft\windows server\logs, there file called ca_role_install.  last line in file says "get alteration state ended completed" , not have listed errors.  when click re-try, jumps 33% complete, 67% complete , fails.  @ point, file "errors" shows in logs directory.  has 1 line , says "fatal: configurecatask:".

any ideas on go next?  better or worse, have done bit of work installing , testing programs, including legacy line of business apps, setting file shares , copying on data, prefer fix if possible without complete re-install.  being said, server isn't in production yet if necessary will.  try other options first it'll take days re-do work that's been done far.

i had put on hold month or 2 while worked on other projects.  went it, , started scratch.  removed vm , setup new, fresh vm fresh install of os.  installed of windows updates, promoted server replica dc (per microsoft's documentation) , tried running essentials experience wizard again without doing else.  wizard still errored out , not complete!

so tried 1 more time morning, again fresh vm, , did not install windows updates!  promoted dc, ran wizard , completed first time!  have no idea wu cause issue (because @ time tried there 100+ updates install os) @ least 1 of them seemed cause issue having.  can else in similar situation sees post , helps them out.  i've wasted hours working on this.  suggestions on post.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...

How do a find data in one file, search for it in another file and if not found, write a custom message to another file
