DFS Namespace Windows 2012 r2 domain controller and file server
our environment windows 2012 r2 domain.
we in process of moving windows 2008 r2 file servers windows 2012 r2 , changing mapping use domain unc , not server based unc have done until now.
we had no problem mapping domain unc path \\x.int\dfs\folder1 etc not able see folders when browsing \\x.int\.
we made our domain controllers namespace serves , able browse namespace \\x.int\ had problem when needed boot domain controller user had logon server lost dfs mapping few minutes.
is way can make dfs namespace visible when browsing \\x.int\ without using domain controllers namespace servers.
another option change default cache duration 300 10 don't want do.
i can't find best practices dfs in windows 2012 r2.

hi hans,
do mean when add file server namespace server, clients not able access \\x.int ?
if so, should train clients access \\x.int\dfs instead, \\x.int accessing dc (see soa record in dns).
when dc namespace server, share created under c:\dfsroots\dfs see \\x.int\dfs. if removed namespace server list, share not exist not able see under \\x.int.
however when accessing \\x.int\dfs accessing dfs namespace direct users correct folder target, file server set namespace server.
back issue, can add file server namespace server replace dc, or add both set file server "first among targets".
if have feedback on our support, please send tnfsl@microsoft.com.
