Network Performance Issues with Windows Server 2012

i'm working on project involves heavy network traffic (tcp/ip, lots of connects & disconnects, tiny messages, large data transfers).  since windows 8 , server 2012 released, testing our system see how works latest-n-greatest... , we've run big gotcha.

i have luxury of having 2 identical pairs of systems (from hardware standpoint)... 2 servers , 2 workstations, connected 10gb ethernet (intel x520) adapters, , running identical copies of our software.  differences 1 server running windows 2008 r2 , 1 running windows server 2012.  similarly, 1 workstation running windows 7 , 1 running windows 8.

when run load tests, server 2008 r2 system able build , maintain steady throughput of 5 gigabits per second, long i've let run far.  server 2012 system, in contrast, start ramping throughput, when gets 3-4 gigabits per second, throughput drop around 700-800 megabits per second, , stay there.  i've performed numerous tests in various combinations, , appears problem specific server 2012 machine... no matter whether it's being 'fed' windows 7 or windows 8 workstation.  there's nothing in event logs offer hints.  nothing reported going 'wrong'... performance/throughput drops horrible levels.

i've searched microsoft's msdn site (and technet) information windows server 2012 network performance issues and/or performance tuning guidance, , finding little... guess because server 2012 new.  i've tried few things i've found (mostly guidance related tuning biztalk servers), changing maxuserport value (thinking might port exhaustion), far, no joy.

which brings me question:  there detailed documentation available anywhere might give me guidance on identifying , correcting tcp performance/throughput issues in server 2012?  i'm willing chalk own shortcomings, i've been able find little documentation, server 2012 tcp/ip registry settings.

i'm quite willing bunch of reading, research, & testign try , figure out... company support current microsoft os offerings our product... i'm having devil of time finding decent information source.

any assistance/pointers can provide appreciated.

it looks if spoke soon.  updated driver postpones appearance of problem.  after 30 minutes of heavy data transfer, our throughput drops considerably , remains there.  driver update improvement... it's dropping down 1.5 gbits (instead of 0.7 gb before), , it's taking quite bit longer hit drop-off... maybe 20-30 minutes, it's still hitting it

i've tried number of different things in course of investigating problem, no joy yet.  hey... part of our testing evaluate whether windows server 2012 ready move it.  guess have answer, if wasn't 1 hoping for.
