Duplicate Printers in Terminal Services Session using Group Policy
hi everyone,
i can't seem find answer simple issue. i've deployed group policy installs network printers users' local pcs. policy functions expected seem have issue when user accesses terminal services (ts) session company issued pc: printers become duplicated.
the ts server has printers installed locally since have other users in our organization access ts server non-company computers. want these users able print local client-side printer printer in physical building. reason, don't think can prevent redirecting.
is there way prevent group policy executing specific policy when user signs ts? if so, steps , set exception? i'm not if should making changes ts service policy, or work policy created set printers (based on user). please let me know if question makes sense. i've provided additional information below:
users pc: windows 7
ts server: windows server 2008
thanks can offer regarding this.

hi howard,
>>is there way prevent group policy executing specific policy when user signs ts?
yes, there 2 ways:
1) can use feature called group policy security filtering. using feature can apply policy ad security group of users. have mean have extract gpo printer setting , place in seperate gpo, otherwise other settingsin ts gpo wont applied either if security filter not match

2) can use feature called group policy preferences. gpo preferences can set different kinds of control panel settings , other settings using preference. amounst settings printer settings (adding, removing printers etc). on each seperate gpo preference setting can place security filtering based on ad security groups well. way not have extract gpo printer settings ts gpo rest of gpo not have security filtering, specific gpo preference.
