symptom
when use windows explorer view shared folders on computer running windows 7 or windows server 2008 r2, shared type icons these folders not appear. therefore, shared folders cannot identified when view many folders @ same time.
note view sharing status of each folder, use details panel @ bottom of windows explorer.
resolution
please note following hotfix available download (also included in sp1) may mitigate scenario users:

after install hotfix, users can add shared files property column windows explorer. following added properties:
- sharing status
the possible values property shared, not shared, , private. private value means current user has access folder. however, other users not have access private folder. - shared with
this property lists display names. folder shared users of these display names. - shared
the possible values of property yes , no.
to add new columns windows explorer, follow these steps:
- open windows explorer.
- open choose details dialog box using 1 of following methods:
- in right side pane, right-click column header, click more... on menu
- on view menu, click choose details...
- in choose details dialog box, select 1 or more of following properties:
- shared
- shared with
- sharing status
note repeat step 2 and 3 if change selections in navigation pane.
we’re aware columns stop-gap measure won’t address issue of our users, expect change should provide relief number of users based on feedback received.
