Windows 2012R2 move folders users, ProgramData, ProgramFiles to the D

dear all,

we place folders “users”, “programdata”, “program files” , “program files (x86)” on d drive non ad integrated server. have tried many options have yet find viable one.

is possible? we’ve read articles advise against it.

options have tested , result:

-          symbolic links – breaks windows update because of hard links in windows

-          added gpo settings achieve on ad environment registry manually – works “users” folder. “programdata” folder has hard links in it. – issue?

from options we’ve tried 1 registry settings seems viable. supported? there issues?

if there way viable , supported please let know well.

background:
