hello,
so have hq , branch offices , in hub-spoke toplogy. please read microsoft article deploying active directory branch office environments: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc749916.aspx
what recommend following:
- create ad site hq , add hq dcs there. also, create used subnets , link them site.
- for branch offices having local dcs, create them ad site , move dcs there. also, create used subnets , link them these sites.
- for branch offices not dcs, can create subnets them , link them hq site. that, use hq dcs authentication or use sitecoverage feature mentioned marcin
like that, client computers, based on use of dc locator process, able locate closest dc , authenticate against it.
for replication topology , since using hub-spoke topology (i suppose wan sites branch offices go directly hq site), recommend create ip inter-site transport links between each ad site created branch offices , hq. kcc when generating replication toplogy between ad sites.
