IIS 7 will not un-install on server 2008

i have been trying days iis 7 un-install. current installation corrupt, or @ least behaves way. must have browsed @ least 2 dozen suggestions including those posted in microsoft technet forum. have tried suggested , still won't un-install. appears work continues reboot , reverts original, corrupt configuration. don't recall other versions of windows server having kind of fatal flaw. noted posts there kind of bug iis 7 , windows process activation service saw no fix it. amazes me that windows server 2008 not, , seemingly never will, allow un-install iis 7.  missed mark operating system.

at point reconsidering our decision use windows server 2008 project. need reliable server.

can any-one suggest different operating system not have problem , can reliably run iis 7?

if single purpose server , concern iis, if me, i'd wipe clean , install windows scratch. not trying repair installations problems described unless there there reason why had to.  you can have clean server , running within hour or so.  you have @ troubleshooting process "cost/benefit" in mind.

i'd recommend 2008 r2 (over 2008) if have licensing rights it.
