Export Users/Computer Accounts from AD

hi guys, need need transfer users , computer accounts domain.

so how go through when user log in,  user still log in same desktop (same wallpaper), same network drive mappings etc..

is there way it?

that's awful position in, first instinct don't panic, not lost.

the main concerns i'm taking out of post that:

  1. you don't feel can trust server anymore has been badly compromised;
  2. you have software issues don't believe can fix.

what recommend if backup older than, say, week you:

  1. create fresh backup of directory dvd "ntdsutil ifm";
  2. build new server off network - dvd iso preferrably;
  3. harden firewall settings on new server before bringing onto network;
  4. install virus scanner on new server;
  5. bring new server onto network , configure tcp/ip settings production;
  6. use "dcpromo /adv" command promote new domain controller media (it need able talk existing domain controller);
  7. monitor new server's progress through watching directory service , dns event logs after promotion has completed ensure process has worked correctly (and don't move next step);
  8. demote original domain controller;
  9. remove original, ex-domain controller domain , rebuild it.

once you've gotten point, can rebuild compromised server , re-promote once you're done. if keep ip address , on it'll normal, , if want to, can demote new domain controller , remove it.

it's quite important if want use procedure establish "fresh start" read following 2 articles:

this might sound complicated, trust me, it's not. involve little bit of time, in comparison migration, it's lot, lot faster , painless.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...

How do a find data in one file, search for it in another file and if not found, write a custom message to another file
