Weird name resolution problem
hi,
recently went wrong our ad/dns/wins , experiencing weird problems. don't know or when, issue new.
we've notices problem 3 servers (haven't tested more), workstation doesn't have issue.
the issue 1 win 2008 server when try change account scheduled task gives me wrong domain name:
i open task , user corp\administrator, should be.
but need change , browse new user changing search location ad.corp.fi , find user fine. when click ok, username in scheduled task changes corp\administrator ad\newuser.
the other problem sharepoint 2010 farm , user synchronization. i'm not sharepoint admin dunno that, users synchronizes appear ad\username, doesn't work.
quick specs:
domain ad.corp.fi (not child domain, it's forest root)
netbios name corp (or ever it's called, people authenticate using corp\username)
four windows ad servers, act dns/wins servers (all same site)
all servers point wins #4, workstations point wins #1
domain/forest functional level 2008
if ping corp, can't find name (don't know if it's supposed to). joining computers domain works fine ad.corp.fi
if ping ad, resolves ad.corp.fi , finds right server, not sure why ad returns anything..
so, have suggestions on wrong here? i'm thinking it's dns or wins, removing wins server problematic win 2008 server didn't fix anything. dns servers wins lookup though..
personally want rid of wins other admins think it's needed something, aren't sure of.

hello,
first let's check dns unedited ipconfig /all dc/dns servers , problem servers.
netbios domain name corp called, correct.
wins not needed in domain relies on dns. applications or browsing on subnets requries wins servers.
as talking netbios names corp , ad please post name shown in ad uc , dns zones listed under forward lookup zone, there should "_msdcs.ad.corp.fi" , "ad.corp.fi" containing complete records dcs , nameserver record domain dns servers. additional folders shown pdcemulator , configured sites, udp , tcp. folders should contain dcs also.
