NSLOOKUP of AD Domain Name?
i noticed there ip address not ip address of domain controllers when did nslookup of domain name. i looked @ same parent entries in dns , saw ip address there.
this ip address belongs hyper-v host contains domain controllers guests. would cause entry in dns , should left alone or mean former domain controller once had ip address assigned hyper-v host , should removed?
hi,
the simplest answer default configuration of ad-integrated zone is yes, can delete ns (from name servers tab) , (from zone) records, investigate whether or not indicative of larger issue requires metadata cleanup.
you should not seeing invalid soa record, dns server you're connected to.
to remove ns record, can edit properties of zone, select name servers tab , remove inappropriate entry.
to remove a record, right-click on , choose delete.
you might need check , remove reverse lookup (ptr) records, along various srv records under various zones beginning underscore ("_").
again though, urge check if need perform metadata cleanup. can looking @ active directory sites , services snap-in , validating current domain controllers listed. if there invalid servers listed can have read of this page instructions on how remove lingering objects. i'd encourage use final option @ bottom relating "ntdsutil metadata cleanup" command, it's you.
cheers,
