VM's Stuck in "Backing Up..." State
we using system center dpm 2012 sp1 backup our server 2012 hyper-v cluster , have vm's stuck in state of "backing up..." on hyper-v manager dpm , vss writers both backups have failed. we unable migrate or shutdown guest vm's stuck in state.
so far workaround have found fail vm's not in status host, kill cluster service on host stuck vm's force them migrate host causes unexpected reboot of guest.
i wondering if there other method cancel or vms out of state and/or fail them on host without having kill cluster service?
hi striker169,
please follow steps below check :
"
1. success system statebackups on target os (windows server 2012, 2008) mustinstall wsbrole (windows server backup).
2. have enough free space on system drive target os , allocate enough space replica volume on dpm server (more target os use on system drive).
3. if want perform bare metal backup, need know thing:bm backup copy content on system drive (at least in os folders).therefore must allocate enough! space replica volume on dpm server (more files on system drive). move unimportant files system drive idea to.
"
also please post error message .
