Multiple error messages causing production problems

i have upgraded department's computers os snow leopard , using updated version of office 2008. however, students have begun using word produce documents getting variety of error messages including:

 

"there has been network or file permission error. network connection may lost." (they are, however, still connected server.)

"file cannot saved because not exist." (although exists since can open it. neither save nor save work. occurring both .docx , .rtf files.)

"x uses file type blocked , cannot opened ..." (however, document created in exact same version of word on every computer in our building.)

 

the way have found work around copy , paste document, slows them down , doesn't seem should have each time try work document. have checked new/additional updates , there aren't , have verified permissions each user.
