The very basic problem in accessing Microsoft website

i quoting latest case details.  today in morning had installed windows 2003 server on 1 of server machines.  after installing had gone microsoft update services , downloaded latest updates.  in process of setting forefront client security server.  afterwards, had installed sql server 2005 std. edition , thereafter, since forefront suite required sql server 2005 service pack2, had downloaded service pack microsoft download centre.  seemed fine.  however, when in middle of setting wsus 3.0, @ stage when asked synchronization microsoft update website, when clicked start, got http error message , when tried open microsoft.com in seperate browser window, not able so.  have realip address , internal ip address both, had used both site not opening.  moreover, when trying ping microsoft.com command window used open , imediately got closed.  latest case.  working in university there many machines on internet working fine microsoft.com not opening up.  please me out got stuck in middle of wsus installation , therefore not able complete configuration of forefront server.

the first requirement installing wsus have stable, working, platform internet access.

it not appear have this. suggest focusing on getting os installed , configured can:

  • ping command prompt
  • access windows update via ie

and once can perform actions, resume attempts install sql server, wsus, , fcs.

2008 Windows Deployment Server Properties Error

currently wading through setup , configuration of wds on 2008 server. have captured xp sp2 image , purposes of testing not prestaging. pxe response settings have been set "respond (known & unknown) client computers" leaving "for unknown clients, notify administrator etc" unchecked when ok properties sheet error "server properties error" "the system cannot find file specified" when attempting use command "wdsutil /approve-autoadddevices /requestid:1" in response pending devices within gui "an error occurred while trying execute command. error code: 0x6 error description: access denied" surely if not attempting add workstations domain (no prestaging) there shouldn't problem. any appreciated  answering part of own question although if can explain reason appreciated. server properties error occurs when launching windows deployment services using start>all programs>administrative tools. if access via server manager...
