Domain Controller Issues

when our pdc down, other dc showing issues.  pcs can logon, however, not fully.  event logs of pc show netlogon 5719 errors , grouppolicy 1129 errors.  there time-service 129 warnings , dns client events 1014 warnings.  in addition, drive mappings fail notification area pop-up "could not reconnect network drives."


event 5719
computer not able set secure session domain controller in domain ourdomain due following:
there no logon servers available service logon request.
may lead authentication problems. make sure computer connected network. if problem persists, please contact domain administrator.
 
event 1129
processing of group policy failed because of lack of network connectivity domain controller. may transient condition. success message generated once machine gets connected domain controller , group policy has succesfully processed. if not see success message several hours, contact administrator.
 
event 129
ntpclient unable set domain peer use time source because of discovery error. ntpclient try again in 3473457 minutes , double reattempt interval thereafter. error was: entry not found. (0x800706e1)
 
event 1014
name resolution name dl-6410-52.ourdomain.local timed out after none of configured dns servers responded.

 
ran dcdiag on both dcs , test fails systemlogtest.  know wrong , how address problem?  our dcs windows 2003 server.

microsoft determined issue related dhcp.  each of these servers dhcp server 50/50 split.  when 1 of servers goes down, dhcp server.  if client computer logs on , makes dhcp request server down, times-out , continues booting without trying ip other dc/dhcp server.  apparently, dhcp not try new ip until half of lease time up.  if lease time default 8 days, computer got it's lease within 4 days time-out after logon , not ip.

their solution use static ips on clients , not dhcp.  not solution us.  have many travelers not able plug-in @ home , valid ip home network.

Can no longer user MS Update - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered

hi, i'm new server 2003.  installed it.  removed enhanced ie security.  proceed download , install windows server 2003 sp1, of dot net (1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, , updates), , sp2. after downloaded , installed of above, tried windows update menu option in ie.  (ie 8 windows server 2003) , sits there "done" in lower left hand corner.  never brings in window. so try www.microsoft.com -> download , trails -> update.  received error message "files required use microsoft update no longer registered or installed on computer".  click on register or reinstall files me now.  window changes , "check latest version of windows updating software .... ".   sits there (last time sat there on hour). i went on internet , found instructions: regsvr32 wuapi.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 atl.dll regsvr32 msxml3.dll did not work either.  have other suggestions?...

How do a find data in one file, search for it in another file and if not found, write a custom message to another file
