Should I activate VM before or after I copy?

hi,

i've no experience ms server products might a silly question here goes:

i've installed 2008 r2 enterprise hyper-v role , plan create 3 2008 r2 vms on host. to save time figured can install , update 1 vm , copy base installation before adding the different products i plan run. possible and if so at time should activate wms, should activate template or should wait until copy made?

hi

the os automatically activated after os installation complete. however, activation process different when installing virtual machine or guest os.

the activation code no longer works in virtualization environment.: the guest os not automatically pre-activated. instead, virtual product key needed activate guest os. there might not technical way pre-activate installed guest os. workaround introduce vlk.

please check kb : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949748

and white paper : automatic windows os activation in hyper-vthis featured page http://www.delltechcenter.com/page/automatic+windows+os+activation+in+hyper-v
