External Disk Security
the system disk on windows home server 2008 failed. have rebuild disk array scratch. want access data disks belonged pre-crash array.
i've attached 1 of these disks client computer using usb port. using windows explorer can see folder want access on disk (e:\de\shares). although can see files want access within e:\de\shares, can't copy them. receive message "this no longer located in ...".
my user account administrator account. owner of e:\de administrators group. can't take ownership of folder because account greyed out in new owner panel. administrators group has full access e:\de.
there lock icon on icon associated e:\de within windows explorer. premise "lock" root cause of problem.
questions:
- i'm administrator. should have full access on computer. how copy files attached usb drive without getting hassled locks , permissions?
- if agree root cause of problem lock icon on e:\de, how rid of it?
thanks in advance ...
