Migrating RRAS Questions
hello, i'll migrating rras physical 2008 r2 server virtualized 2012 r2 server. have quick, easy, questions regarding process. it's worth, server have 2 nics. 1 lan , 1 directly on wan. the wan nic not behind firewall. believe nic configured lan should not have gateway configured, correct?
is there reason should not install new instance of rras on new server in same site , domain? don't want blow existing server before have new 1 ready.
another question routing never quite worked on existing server. in 10.0.0.0/24 subnet. clients reach subnets began 10.x.x.x, however, never able reach 172.16.x.x subnets. predecessor tried fix , have i. there considerations or best methods follow in order work correctly?
using rras for? comments presume using vpn.
lan side of rras server should not have default gateway. default gateway od server out internet. can have 1 dg per machine, not 1 per interface. lan interface dg lan machines.
i not configure second vpn server while first still in operation. how determine server client using if there problem? how sure new server functioning correctly? clients might still using old one.
connecting vpn client routed lan (ie 1 multiple subnets) quite different connecting lan 1 subnet. if there 1 subnet, connection automatic because rras server proxy arp client , client works if on lan. called on subnet addressing.
if lan subnetted, fails , have use different subnet remotes , route traffic through rras. called off subnet addressing.
